Our cats wear these collars for about a month. I like them much better than the ones sold at our local pet stores. On average we bought a new collar about every three months as they just couldn't take the strain. We need a secure collar as our cats have a magnetic amulet that will only let them in through the cat door. Other detachable collars were too easy for them to remove during a fight. If they lose their collars, they lose the ability to enter through their door. Because of the way these collars are assembled, there is not as much risk of the elastic snapping as with previously purchased ones, and they don't "pop" during play. Our street cats' collars still look brand new and I really hope I don't have to change them anytime soon. 08/22/17 These collars are a little over 2 years old, the rubber band is slightly stretched. so I bought two more to have on hand. They have lasted longer than any collar we have ever bought for a pet. There were no problems with collars that would hurt or irritate the animal's neck.
