This is a large frying pan for (in my case) rats. Depending on the size of your cage, you may be able to remove it through the cage door. I couldn't, so every time I had to dismantle the bottom of the cage for daily cleaning. The mounts were completely useless in my case. I cut them off because they didn't line up with the bars of the cage. Another thing is that the back (leg) walls aren't exactly vertical. They're a bit outward so when you use the clamps it's all up in the air and my rats either went behind or under the pan, which I didn't like. Finally I decided to cut off the side panels (see photo). and only then it became very functional and convenient. Now it takes up less space, go through the door and my rats USE IT. I'm not sure what the removable lip is for.
