Only suitable for small pets.

I'm not sure I would call this a 'large' pet carrier. I was conflicted while checking the product page. The product name indicated that the carrier was designed for small dogs up to 23 pounds or medium sized cats. The product description says this is for large cats up to 20lbs. The photos show 2 cats in a carrier, but they were KITTENS. I was considering a cat carrier with a curved "window" and I liked all the vents so I decided to give it a try. This item has a clear appearance, beautiful color scheme, and the dome of the window makes it very attractive. That's where my positives end. The papers that come with the carrier mention that it may have an odor - and it always does! When I opened it there was a tiny sachet of vanilla in the package but there was no smell of anything. There was no vanilla smell in or around the wearer. But ok, let's clear it up. Next, the arched window. You actually have a choice of windows - either a plain black "grid" or a see-through dome with 3 vents. The paper insert shows you need to turn the ring on the outside of the bag to "unlock" it, and then you can insert the grille or dome and then secure with the ring to lock the window. I couldn't get the ring to barely move, let alone open. I was at a point where I thought I was going to break it, so I actually gave up. I tried again the next day and was able to open it, but it took a lot of effort. I added a dome. Although the zippers seem to be quite strong, overall I'd say the bag is pretty flimsy. The plank is not very stiff and the cover material is rather thin. There is Velcro around the carrying handles. Not sure if it's short or just flimsy, but it doesn't stay secure after you wrap the handles. The shoulder strap seems pretty solid, but I haven't tested it. Back to the beginning of this review - the size of the beast. I have 2 cats and they are big boys. The larger of the two weighs just under 16 pounds, which is 4-7+ pounds lighter than the recommended weight. As you can see from my photos - it barely got into the pocket - and the zipper was unzipped. If I were to close it, I don't think he could turn around in it. I would ONLY recommend this carrier for those with a very small kitten/puppy/rabbit. If you travel a lot, this carrier is not for you. I would also say that this is for emergencies and vet visits only. It's too small and weak for anything more substantial.
