Review on Enhanced ACDelco GM Original Equipment Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator Kit (Part 217-3072) - Inclusive of Clip and Snap Ring by Pete Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No more hard starts!

I literally put this in my car on 2/11/16 at 18:07, fired right and with my Innova gauge it showed 46+ psi at idle, static pressure with KOEO it was 48 psi and when I hit the throttle it settles at 53-59 psi which is the spec in my all-data subscription. My 2003 3.8L Impala was hard to start, not too hard, but I did notice a difference that built up over 6 months where it took about 5-6 crank turns from instant start before tipping over, my fuel gauge showed about 42 lbs on, now it fires instantly and I have the right pressure. I also noticed that after KOEO my pressure would rise to 42psi and then drop quickly, which it shouldn't, it was supposed to hold that pressure, so either a leaking fuel pump check valve, a leaking injector, or the regulator itself was meant. I removed the return line, clamped the rubber hose, put the rubber hose in a large bucket and did a KOEO, then immediately clamped the rubber hose that I attached to the return line so the fuel line would hold the pressure. It was possible to just pinch the hose at first, but you run the risk of damaging your fuel system from high pressure even just pressing the KOEO button (engine off button), so this is not recommended. As a general rule, do not pinch the hose when KOEP (engine running) start the engine when pouring gasoline into a bucket. It doesn't matter how much pressure you have when you pinch the line, you just want to see if you're losing pressure, if so that indicates a check valve or a stuck injector. Even if you lose pressure, don't repeat the test as if your injector was leaking. You can hydrolock the engine by constantly injecting fuel with the engine off. If you do this you will have to remove the spark plugs and let them vaporize a long time before starting. I don't want to write a troubleshooting book here. You should exercise caution before performing any tests on your computer. Anyway, I'm happy again that my car starts right away and now I'm probably getting better fuel ratings and the car runs like it should. The BTY clip isn't needed and isn't used on all systems, it's definitely not needed on the mu Impala, it didn't come from that factor, but you can still add it for convenience if you want, it's a locking ring holds the adjuster down, the clip doesn't hold it but prevents it from fully slipping out e.g. B. when he is crushed by a Trex returning from the past.

Pros
  • Like all before
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
