When accuracy matters.

First I have to say that this is without a doubt one of the most expensive sharpeners you will find anywhere. So what makes people buy this device? others that can be bought at a significantly lower price? Just take a look. 1) High quality components that can last even with frequent use. The sharpening stones, fittings and table included are of high quality. Stones can be reused without significant wear. 2) Spare parts. You can purchase individual abrasives separately at any time. It seems that the company offers these parts well, although they will cost a lot (as you already suspect). 3) Excellent diamond abrasives. Cuts fast so you can get on with your day. An excellent choice for knife makers who don't want to waste time but want a high level of sharpness 4) Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy. This device really requires sharpening skills. The rods will help you every step of the way towards professional results that can be achieved by a beginner or a pro. 5) grinding speed. I can sharpen a brand new 7 inch (high carbon steel) cleaver that has never been razor sharp in just 12 minutes! This is a device. For example, results like this can no doubt be archived with a wet stone, but prepare to spend more time and gather the skills needed to make the end result comparable. All of this speaks to an important point. This sharpener is a really quick haircut, shaving too fast or too much can change the shape of your blade. Check your work often to make sure you're hitting the target. You won't always be able to see your point of view from your point of view to make sure you're not doing any harm - I'm glad I did! I should note that there is no appreciable heat generated during the grinding process, especially if you are using low grit stones. In the end, only YOU can judge if this is the right tool for you. i If you only sharpen your kitchen knife once a week, you are probably paying too much for a hand tool. You might be better off getting an electric sharpener or wet stone (if you have more expensive knives) for a fraction of the cost. However, if you make knives or own a knife workshop, this would be a great tool to have in your arsenal, although not as fast as a powered sharpener.
