Designed to reduce the length of the extended shock that lowers the bike. Not difficult to assemble with appropriate tools. It is not possible otherwise. I had to create a custom compression tool to compress the damper for installation. The instrument took much longer to make than actually fitting the ring. Without tools, the only other way to install is to remove the shock, drain the oil and loosen the nitrogen charge. Used in conjunction with an installed reducer and a modified seat to reduce seat height by more than 3 inches. Works well.
