The problem with this is that since it's plastic, if you screw the screen in too tightly it will contact the threads and slowly pull away from the plastic until the plastic isn't even holding the screen in place. This press seems to solve that problem by having a metal part that can't be depressed, so it's no longer a weak point. The mesh feels thinner than the Bodum which is nice and the glass is of the same quality. The quality of the plastic is where this block falls short. Bodum appears to be more flexible and impact resistant, while this one is more brittle and harder. After just one fall from the kitchen table, this block broke at the top next to the lid, which now swings freely as it is no longer connected to the base. I've hit and dropped the Bodum lid a few times but it never happened. Therefore, the quality of the plastic is much better on this device while the rest of this device is much better compared to other parts of the press. I would still recommend it, but I'm sorry you have to put up with it. , would recommend the manufacturer to try a less brittle plastic.
