Review on πŸ“ 19053C Caliper Divider from Big Horn by Jeremy Gulledge

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Strong but very coarse bolt

Bought these primarily to check the alignment of the table saw with the guide bar. Generally useful tools. No actual measurements are required, you just need to compare two points to make sure they are the same distance. Very well made in terms of thickness, rigidity of the levers. Very well done in terms of spring power and smoothness. Well knurled nut. Very bad thread. connects. Even after trying to add 1) silicone grease (no use), 2) motor oil (slight improvement) 3) white lithium grease - still unacceptable. Too bad. They get the job done, but with difficulty. The threads and nut look like they're "dragging" rather than sliding, although as a precaution the manufacturer thought of putting some sort of "washer" between the knurled wheel and the body. I haven't decided yet whether to return it or not. They were very cheap, they are REALLY strong, they have REALLY sharp points and very strong feathers. Only one thing confuses me - a coarse thread when adjusting.

Pros
  • Hardened and tempered arc springs and support coils ensure even tension with no lateral play when using this caliper set
Cons
  • I will add later
