I usually buy all my electronics brand new due to a past burnout, but I decided to take a chance, save some money and buy a refurbished Pixel 4 Xl. I will *never* do it again and encourage others to spend a few hundred dollars more on a new device for the following reasons. 1. The phone arrived with a known defect in the Pixel 4, which causes the battery percentage to show no more or less than 50% of the charge capacity, regardless of the actual charge level. The rest of the phone worked perfectly, so I decided to keep it. The phone worked for a month before freezing and not responding to startup commands, in both normal and safe mode. 2: After contacting the seller via email, he informed me (in broken English) that the phone is still under warranty via Google (I checked and it wasn't) and that I should send it in for an exchange should. I then had to spend $150 out of my own pocket ordering a new battery and paying a third party to do the work, a solution they admit "might work because we don't really know how to fix your problem ." 3: After a week of waiting, I got the phone back and it worked perfectly, no problems at all. That was a month ago and the phone freezes again, now with the slightest bump or pressure. Sometimes it starts up right after the crash, other times it has to sit on the charger for a while and think about its bad behavior before deciding to boot up. In any case, further repairs are required. At this rate I have to buy a disposable phone to know how unreliable this thing is. Moral of this story? Don't be a cheap POS. The idea of picking up a flagship superphone like the Pixel 4 XL for half the original price is certainly appealing, but it's just not worth the risk of buying a refurbished one.
