Review on Truck Lite 60050R Stop Turn Grommet by Matt Wigfall

These taillights are very disappointing. One of the old 60 series TruckLite halogen taillights burned out on our van so I decided to jump into the 21st century and replace both lights with LED. The units are well built and very strong, well made replacement bushings are included (which is why they get 2 stars) but the performance is absolutely terrible for a modern taillight. They're very dark in total darkness, and if you look at them from an off-axis angle, forget it. They do NOT project any light to the sides as there is no reflector/diffuser in front of the LED - the diodes are mounted directly on the board behind the red lens which looks very dark (almost tinted) even due to the darkness the green color of the board is shining through. Surprisingly bad, especially for a major manufacturer's DOT approved taillight. I would avoid this particular model until it is updated with brighter diodes and/or an improved reflector system.
