Review on Sony Alpha 7C Mirrorless Camera (ILCE7C/S) - Silver with Sony FE 24mm F2.8 G Ultra-Compact Lens by Randy Olson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small bezel BIG performance

Always wanted to get on the Sony mirrorless hype train but never got the chance. Aside from the size, "silver" is a nice touch and I recommend this color scheme to anyone on the market as it definitely adds a bit of flair to the camera and sets it apart from the usual all black camera bodies. The fold-down screen is definitely a nice touch. I wish it was a touchscreen, but full motion is a nice touch. Definitely helps with selfies and vlogs if you do this. It's nice for me to be able to turn around and see what I'm shooting at weird angles. Speaking of what you're photographing, the Sony Camera app lets you see the electronic viewfinder on the camera screen and take pictures! The kit lens is small and compact. Overall I don't find it as useful as I was hoping because I rarely make videos or vlogs, but if you make any of these it's definitely a must-have. It's so compact and 28mm wide that you can get enough frames in your video. The autofocus is AMAZING. I've had many shots with other cameras ruined by autofocus being off or being too slow. Sony was definitely at the forefront of the game and I'm happy to know that the hype is well served. The A7C also features a new Eye AF function. I don't have much experience with it, but from my first tests it's great and when combined with AF-C and Zone AF, it's a quick switch to Eye AF. Definitely an amazing feature. Overall this camera is great. If you're looking for a small, compact vlogging/streaming camera with a fold-out screen, this is the one for you. Or if like me you just want a compact camera for all your travels (next year when Covid is over) this is definitely the one for you. Where previously I had to think twice about taking my camera with me, this Sony A7C is a no-brainer. It literally fits in my jacket pocket and is the kind of camera you can take anywhere.
