Review on 🗺️ Garmin nüvi 40 4.3-inch Portable GPS Navigator - US Only (Discontinued Model) by Karthikeyan Behm

Excellent price

I used to only buy Garmins and now several different models. The previous device I bought in early 2012 was a lifetime card and plug model. I will never buy LMT again. The Traffic feature is a joke (very limited coverage areas, always wrong as information quickly becomes outdated and you have to put up with on-screen ads), as is the Lifetime Maps feature. Garmin intentionally only puts the amount of memory into the device required at manufacture and does not increase it slightly to accommodate future increases in map size. So if you update your map in a year or so it won't fit your Garmin unless you download or add a partial map (1/4 US - selected region - hopefully you don't plan to travel) to another You insert a memory card into an expansion slot that sticks out, falls out, costs extra dollars, and slows down the device. Therefore, an inexpensive "disposable device" like this model is ideal. For around $80, I can afford to replace it for at least double the price of an LMT model, which is a useless marketing gimmick for Garmin anyway. The unit I am replacing is 6 years old and was terribly slow and outdated so this unit is for you. Lucky for Garmin, I prefer the interface, ease of use, design and menus. And the factory unit in my new truck is also a Garmin Dash. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others. Btw I gave my 6 year old spare to a family friend who didn't have GPS with warning that it was slow and outdated but mostly still a useful tool and they were glad to have it.

Pros
  • Same as everything
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
