This winter our heater was on 24/7, causing redness on our skin and in our nostrils. I also had a humidifier running the entire time. I'm extremely sensitive to irritants like mold or mildew, so I wanted to make sure my humidifier didn't contain any allergens. I clean it regularly but thought it might help me between cleanings. It was very easy to use and I just dropped it into my humidifier reservoir and refilled it as usual. It's small and has worked well so far. I will say that sometimes it is sucked into the hole from which the water slowly drains, but this does not cause any problems. I just flip it the other side and we're back in business.
