Belt was 2 inches too small and didn't fit. I searched the internet and found several appliance repair people that explained how to install the belt. They explained that the strap is designed to stretch enough to fit and stay taut. SOLUTION: Wear gloves. Here is how I installed the strap. I put the belt on the motor pulley and then with one hand passed the belt over the drum pulley and with the other hand turned the drum pulley. After about two-thirds of the way I was pretty sure the belt was too small to fit, but I followed the advice of the appliance repair experts and kept working until the belt was fully seated on the drum pulley. When I was fully on the drum pulley I noticed that the belt was not centered on the motor shaft. I rotated the drum and moved the belt to the center of the motor shaft. The washing machine works great now.
