Installed (4) steel 3/8 Rivet Nuts on the back of my car to attach a piece of MDF to attach my booster to. Apply an initial push, pull back a little, retighten the middle screw, and push some more. Then release and you will no longer be able to tighten the center screw. When you reach this point you are done and the nut is secured. Just make sure the material, which in my case was somewhat thin sheet metal (I have no idea the thickness), is FLAT before installing. Drilling the hole for the rivet nut had warped the sheet metal slightly, so I had to scrape it off with a hammer before installing the rivet nut. Check the correct hole size for the rivet nut you are using as you will want the smallest hole to fit the rivet nut. I ended up using a smaller drill bit as I wasn't the exact size recommended (usually odd sizes or the metric equivalent) and used a dremel to smooth out the hole until the rivet nut fit. I lubricated all moving parts before first use, as others have said, very dry at first. I can't wait to find new uses for this tool!
