Review on Surveillance Supported Security Recording RLK16 410B8 by Shawn Pollock

My first attempt to install/configure/service a home video surveillance system. Has been working for about 5 months now. Easy to install and connect. The user interface could be improved. Windows UI could be improved. The Mac UI could be improved. Smartphone UI could be improved. Android UI could be improved. The system itself is very reliable. The cameras appear to be very durable. (Make sure you fasten them securely). Easy connection. Be prepared to drill at least a 1/2 inch hole in each wall you intend to go through, unless you intend to cut the ethernet cable and crimp in new ends. Plug and Play is very good. The ability to remotely view live or recorded video as clearly as your internet connection will allow. Nice feature. Turn on the sound. The motion detection is a bit tricky, but works reliably. This is NOT an infrared motion detection system. It detects motion by comparing neighboring video frames (if one frame differs from the previous one, it will be detected as motion). Possibility to set the exact detection field with precise accuracy. Email notifications were huge when trying to set up motion detection. I have never received push notifications. I'm not complaining. Its value probably matches the price. I think the user interface could be better. User-friendly update: 07/11/19. 4 1/2 stars. In operation for over a year. Works like new. Make sure your cameras are secure as they tend to shake when the wind blows. Cameras collect dust and cobwebs. Must be cleaned regularly. Night vision is super sensitive. Easily detects even the smallest flying insects. The range will always be smaller than you want. Remote playback and recording work well. Including audio stream. Any camera can easily be temporarily disabled by simply unplugging it from the camera. They can be easily reconnected without reconfiguration. I'm no expert but I would highly recommend this system to a friend or family. Ease of use, easy installation, user-friendly interface. I need to monitor software updates more closely to report that they update frequently. Update 05/10/2020This system continues to work well for us. We especially like the remote monitoring over the internet, including the ability to remotely capture and record video. Absolutely no problems after 2 1/2 years of service at our remote residence. I would recommend this for a friend.
