I took them because they were said to be stainless steel and have "excellent anti-corrosion properties". This is a common lie. Actually I would say the opposite because I have NEVER seen anything rust so easily in my entire life. So I would give 0 stars if I could because I don't like being lied to. I put them on my tool box in the back of my truck and noticed some surface rust after the rain. They sat all winter and I never tested them and after 4 months they are covered with thick dark rust. They still open and close and the spring mechanism is fine, I soaked them in rust remover, sanded the rust off and applied a few coats of clear coat so I hope it doesn't happen again. They are very cheap and do the job. I would recommend buying them unless you plan to use them where they will be exposed to the elements. If they're going to be used outdoors or near water, just spend the extra money for real stainless steel that won't rust and look ugly after a few months.
