Having had a lot of experience installing routers as hotspots I had no hesitation in ordering this one as the description said it could be used as a hotspot. Even after reading some reviews saying they had problems and ended up returning the loan. Well, I also had no luck configuring this device as a hotspot connected to my main router. I was able to easily access the router configuration and set up the 2.4 and 5 SSIDs I wanted on the three Wi-Fi networks, set up the correct passwords for each, and even connected to each of the Wi-Fi networks using my iPhone Internet was not available. It also wasn't a problem setting up a static IP that I wanted to use so I would know which address I would use for future changes. The problem occurred when I configured the device as an access point in the configuration. Connecting a device for my main router's LAN port to this device's WAN port. The device never showed an internet connection. Make sure I reboot the main router to make sure it resets all ports. At this point he should have given this device an internet connection and everything should be up and running. Even tried to let the main router sell the IP address a couple of times. Return for credit. On the day I returned this item I ordered a TP-Link AC1200 and it was a breeze to set it up as an access point. I set up and hooked up this device in less than 15 minutes. It has all the features I wanted: wired hotspot configuration, easy SSID setting, easy change of transmission channel frequency to set up WiFi signals, very easy access to device configuration via IP address.
