I bought this wood moisture meter to check the moisture content of recently purchased wood. The firewood supplier told me that his firewood was "seasoned" and ready to burn. Firewood should have a moisture content of no more than 20%. The smaller firewood I've bought has a moisture content of 20% or less, but none of the larger firewood has this moisture content. All of these pieces have between 54% and 72% moisture, so the supplier wasn't honest about the wood being ready to burn. Love this wood moisture meter, wish I had it with me when buying firewood. The only thing I don't like about this meter is that the advertisement has a picture of the meter being used to test firewood, but there is no hint or suggestion in the manuals on how to accurately check the moisture content of firewood .
