Review on πŸŽ₯ iOgrapher Filmmaking Case for iPad 9.7 - Best Fit for iPad Air 1 & 2, 9.7 Pro, 5th & 6th Gen by Moe Gilbert

Cheaply made and terrible design compared to older versions!

This is my second iOgrapher video rig. I am the proud owner of my first version of the iPad mini 2. It has been working great for 3 years now. It fits snugly to the iPad without damaging or scratching the device. It's fairly strong, with little to no flexing in the plastic during normal use. The base with tripod mount is durable and easy to connect. Finally, the iPad's lens hole fits the device perfectly, and adding a new lens was a breeze. Now things are getting ugly with the new iPad 9.7 inch version. I could tell almost immediately that the design, fit and finish of this product is inferior to the old type. The plastic body is thinner in almost all areas. After installing the iPad, the lens was not aligned with the center notch or was near the center of an attached lens. This allows the device to display rounded and cropped videos or images in the bottom half of the viewport. I contacted the company's support team and they said that I might have to zoom in with the device to make the rounded cut edges go away. Seriously, is that your medicine? This wasn't a problem with the older models as they were MANUFACTURED perfectly centered! Needless to say, their support team got me up and running. The new model is TOO tight on the device. The old one was perfect even with the protective glass. The new one breaks the protective films when they are installed. And yes, the protective films are the same thickness. It's just a very bad design. Also, there is no reinforcement zone around the tripod mount. This area is EXTREMELY fragile and any light pressure or even light wind can cause the entire unit to wobble and bend when installed with little effort. Finally, unlike older models, there's no proper cutout around the power button to stick your finger in to turn the device on and off. Unless, of course, you have fingers the size of a newborn. Oh well? I literally have to use the pointy end of the pen to get to the button on the device. I bought it just before Christmas and waited a long time to open it and test it extensively. God I made a mistake and missed the return deadline. Overall I am extremely dissatisfied with the product which I expected to be of the same quality as their older versions. Now I'm stuck with a useless $70 piece of plastic! Thanks iOgrapher. Now I spend my money elsewhere.
