Bought these because I have 5 pierced ears and was looking for a graduated set that starts with a very small ring. The smallest 6mm is about the width of the tip of my pen or eraser. The 14mm size is a little smaller than a dime. The 6mm was exactly the size I was looking for for my top hole. Happy to find it in a tiered set of 5. I've always worn sterling silver infinity hoop earrings but hated that they tarnish and are very difficult to close. I gave these 4 stars for comfort because they are a bit thicker than my sterling tires so I had to work hard to get them through my holes, they hurt a little. Also because they are so small, the smaller hoops were a little difficult to close. But since I have no intention of taking them off, it was a small price to pay for a perfectly sized set of tires that won't tarnish.
