The way people were praising the noise reduction from swapping out the old roller, I figured I'd get a tolerable clean from Neato while I was home, but it really wasn't . .Although the roller reduces the noise level somewhat, most of the noise is generated by the naturally aspirated motor, so I was a bit disappointed with how loud my Neato was after people made it sound like a miracle cure. However, the reel is fairly easy to replace (just notice how it looks before you take the old one out and don't lose the fine details like I did) and I think most people will be fine. I also think this combo valve and brush roller is more effective at vacuuming, especially carpets, and I have cats so it seems to help in the carpet department. The filter also appears to be more durable than older filters. The lack of noise reduction makes me wish the price was a little cheaper, but having gotten rid of the old dirty roller, I think people with Neato should upgrade every few years, regardless of whether your robot is performing efficiently.
