Review on Bonavita Connoisseur BV1901TS: Premium 8-Cup One-Touch Stainless Steel Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe and Hanging Filter Basket by Mario Beats

I don't think this is a safe product so take it lightly. Just to give you some information, I've been looking for the best way to brew coffee without an espresso machine for the last few years. I've tried them all. K-cups, mocha pots, ladles, hold-down devices. They call it. I pretty much switched to my AeroPress for my custom cup of coffee and French Press when I needed to make coffee for more than one. I recently read that this Bonavita was rated as one of the best drip coffee makers outside of the Moccamaster. I was excited and I dared. It seems well made and very easy to use. I love the thermograph idea and after the recommended brewing cycles I've moved on to brewing from the first carafe. abominable! Strong plastic taste. Check where it came from and it was clear it came from a coffee/filter basket. I did a few more runs with and without coffee. Different filters, washed several times according to instructions and nothing the same plastic taste. I contacted Revain and they contacted me with Bonavita. The manual said to contact them for a replacement plastic case in that case (weird they expected this issue). However, they sent another car and the same problem persists. Now I have a $100 coffee maker that I don't trust, it makes horrible coffee, and I can't sell it or give it away because I feel like I'm risking other people's health. Supermarket and bought a $3 plastic Melitta coffee filter and without the plastic taste it worked great and tasted way better than the coffee from this Bonavita. Again, if it weren't for just great coffee or bad features, I wouldn't have given it such a bad review in my opinion. But the taste combined with the strong plastic smell makes me suspicious of this item.
