Review on Alpinestars Paragon Elbow 🔒 Guard: Ultimate Protection and Comfort by Danny Kimble

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. But whenever I'm in between, I round up. Let's start with the good. It is very comfortable. After driving about 30 minutes I forgot they were even there. As for the build quality, I find it acceptable, but not outstanding. Broken down into its individual parts, I am very satisfied with the abrasion-resistant surface. In other words, the breathable mesh is great. Feels durable and well stitched. On the other hand, I think the Alpenstars chose the wrong material for the abrasive surface. Basically, the part outside of your elbow should be hit. It is a semi stretch nylon spandex material. It definitely feels like it's going to snap at the first good scratch on the floor. I would be much happier going with faux leather or similar in durability. I like the inner lining very much. It's a quarter inch aerated medium durometer rubber. Sits well in the sweet spot of the protection/comfort curve. Size is my biggest bone of contention. That's far. I have a 14.75" bicep and a 12.5" forearm and measured very carefully. It even got to the point that my girlfriend repeated the measurement. According to Alpinestars size chart, this means I must be XL. Which was odd though as I'm 5ft 8" and 158lbs so I don't wear a size XL. I dismissed their recommendations and ordered a large and a medium. As it turns out, the middle one fits best, snug but not tight. So I don't know how they came up with their recommendations.
