Step-by-step drawings with brushes

Brush Illustration is a book of step-by-step drawing with brushes. The author started with a brief introduction to brush and paper and then explained some brush techniques. The bulk of the book consisted of two- to four-step demonstrations of how to draw over 200 everyday objects such as food (vegetables, fruits, candy, groceries), animals (dogs, cats, and other animals), flowers, zodiac signs, and more. Objects and animals were painted with a Chinese brush. The book also focused on Asia, so the author chose to showcase products like sushi that might not be of interest to everyone. During the step-by-step part, the focus was on which strokes to do in which order, so each stroke was numbered. Now I have a better understanding of how to create the look of Chinese brush painting, and the animal and flower drawings interested me. While the instructions are enough to get you started building his demos, I was expecting there to be a bit more discussion of brush pens and techniques. I received an electronic copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for review.
