Bought one of these to replace a pair of coffee grinders we had for 9 years that stopped working. I put the batteries in and the coffee grinder started working. I filled them up and the grinder didn't work. The mechanism will not grind if there is salt and pepper in their chambers. I ordered a replacement thinking it was defective. The second should be new but has clearly been used before, but I tried it anyway with the same results. I will look for another replacement.
