Review on ViewSonic XG2560 Advanced Ergonomics 1920X1080P Monitor, 240Hz, Adjustable, Full HD by John Ferguson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Must be seen in person

ViewSonic XG2560 was a big surprise for me. I've read a lot of articles talking about the need for a higher refresh rate monitor, but I've always been happy with my cheap 60-90Hz monitors. They worked and were within my budget. I saw no need for a high refresh rate monitor like other components. As soon as I had to use it personally, my mind changed. When gaming, everything feels smoother and looks better. The monitor seems to be one of the best upgrades I've ever made to my PC. In terms of image quality, I find it clearly superior to my second monitor, the ASUS VG248 144Hz monitor. I feel like it's brighter and has better viewing angles. I think the colors look more accurate after some tweaking. What I didn't find particularly useful with Viewsonic are the various presets. I usually prefer to calibrate my monitor to the default settings and then tweak things in-game for specific games. One feature I liked, but with some limitations, is the USB hub. The ports are on the side of the monitor, set back slightly from the front edge. This allows them to be displayed via drag-and-drop. I really wish there was some sort of visual indication of their position on the bezel. Also, depending on your desktop location, you may not be able to access these ports, e.g. B. if you have two monitors side by side. My monitor is too close to my tower so I can't connect a USB stick, for example. Also annoying is the way the USB hub "turns off" when the monitor is idle. So if you have a mouse and/or keyboard connected to the monitor, you cannot use them to wake up the computer. The first time this happened I had a mild panic attack, not sure if my computer would suddenly stop responding. Bluetooth dongles, Logitech Unifying receivers, Steam receivers, etc. Using a monitor for these additional peripherals came in handy and saves me the awkwardness of touching the back of my PC. Overall, I really like my ViewSonic monitor. I dread the day it dies but will no doubt buy another to replace it.
