Review on Premium Cherry Wood End Grain Butcher Block Cutting Board With Stainless Steel Feet, Juice Groove, 18" X 12" X 1.75 by Michael Tucker

John Boos doesn't stand behind their products.

I dont know why John Boos cost so much. Almost every John Boos item I've received has had at least a little damage. The only time I received a John Boos Item without damage was the time I ordered their $250 prep board and they sent me one of their smaller $60 cutting boards instead, it was however in perfect condition. The replacement prep board I ordered was not, unfortunately. When I received this board it was a little banged up but still in an acceptable condition considering I bought it when it was 40% off. John Boos is never worth their retail price, I would only buy their products when they're on sale. It seems like their boards are always too dry when they arrive and that was certainly the case with this one. For the price Boos is asking these boards should be heavily treated before they're sent out. This one came with a little packet of board cream but no mystery oil so it can't even be properly treated the first time without spending additional money. With a current price tag of $390 (for the 18" x 12" Walnut) it should have come with a starter kit. I've contacted John Boos in the past about replacement and they defer you to revain stating revain has their own stock of Boos products and ships directly from their own warehouse. revain won't always do a replacement, sometimes their only option is to return and reorder. The biggest problem I have with that is I always buy on sale and revain's prices fluctuate so much that it's almost always more expensive when I reorder.
