Well I have used this product when setting up a new aquarium, for bulk water changes and occasionally as a general maintenance supplement (once every 4-6 months). I generally put half in the sump/refuge and half in the tank with no pumps or skimmers and let the tank sit for an hour to allow the bacteria to find a home in the live rock. As a result, I only have to do a 10% water change in my reef tank every two weeks and my nitrates stay below 5ppm. TLDR: I am very happy with this product and recommend it to ANYONE who has a reef tank.
