Protects my iPhone from overheating! BEST buy of the summer!

I didn't have high expectations for this inexpensive Coleman cooler. My family and I are going on a beach vacation later this month and I bought it ahead of this trip. I have 5 small children and anything with backpack straps is my friend as they don't carry and keep up with their own water bottles most of the time. I bought it thinking we could lug baby bottles and their water cups to the beach more easily, but still thought I wanted to try and snag a 'better' cooler sometime in the near future. Ha. No, my desire for a Yeti sweater is completely gone. I will be using these Coleman backpack coolers for as long as they make them! We live on a lake in central Alabama where the weather this summer has been typical of our high humidity and feels like temperatures are in the 100's. We spend almost every summer day swimming in the hot sun and I've been carrying the cooler with me for the past month. Yes, it does an excellent job of keeping our water bottles cold and preventing our snacks from melting. It's a cooler, it does its job. BUT, the most striking feature is what I discovered quite by accident. I left my phone (iPhone 7+) indoors while swimming because it overheated, although I deliberately kept it in the shade. This Coleman Cooler Backpack solved that problem! I put a couple of ice packs in the large bag and then the smaller bag fits my phone, bluetooth speakers and/or headphones, battery etc. My phone stayed cool and hasn't overheated since. ! Condensation never forms in the small pocket, instead the cold is dissipated from the main compartment to keep the electronics cool. In my photo my son's iPhone 6 and a white A5 hardcover magazine for size reference. The A5 format is smaller than a standard exercise book, but it's not pocket-friendly. There's also a purple Vera Bradley pencil case with a floral pattern; It's about 2 inches larger than a #2 ink pen or pencil. ALSO, your mileage may vary and I wouldn't test it on purpose, but having my phone in that cooler bag arguably saved it from swimming in the lake. I was in the water and one of my kids threw a cooler off the dock into the lake. He lay face down in the water for at least 30 seconds (so the little bag with my phone in it was in the lake) before I swam up to grab him. I was sure my phone and everything else in it was fried, but no. The bone is dry! Not a single drop of water got into my pocket with my phone or other electronic devices. I wouldn't go scuba diving but it's nice to know my stuff is safe if kids drip or splash on the bag or if we get caught in heavy rain. Given the price, you can't go wrong. with this cooler. The straps are very comfortable, even if it's heavy, and that's without the use of a lumbar support that attaches around the waist.

  • Confident
Cons
  • Almost OK
