I am currently in college and use both desktop and laptop for study. When you are in an online Zoom environment, your appearance is almost what everyone sees. I liked the laptop, but I didn't find the picture and microphone quality very good, especially when doing interviews for trade schools in the future. That's why I thought about buying a webcam. After reading reviews of other webcams, I found that this camera has the best reviews and quality. Here is my take on this product: 1) The quality of pure plastic. It's definitely durable and can certainly take a hit or two. 2) The mount is quite unusual. The folding mechanism for attaching it to the monitor doesn't quite meet my expectations. Rather than having to grab both sides of the monitor, the webcam "rests" on the monitor, and the back can wiggle and grab to hold on. Imagine opening and closing a door. I found it required some balancing skills, but I got through it. It also has a screw mount on the bottom so you can mount it on a tripod if needed. 3) The quality of the camera is pretty good. I think it's much better than my laptop's camera, but it requires proper lighting. The image can become quite grainy in low light and the monitor does not automatically adjust the backlighting of white screens. So you can get overexposed while the back is pretty harsh but grainy. Therefore, try to install this camera in a room with fairly evenly distributed light. 4) What has really been overlooked in many of the other reviews I've read is the quality of the microphone. I have to give presentations in my classes, so the quality of the microphone was an important factor in choosing this webcam. In the audio test comparing my laptop to the webcam, the webcam was slightly better, but nothing special. I could speak in my normal voice and still be heard quite clearly. Overall solid 8/10.5) The cable of this webcam can be described as relatively short. I think it's about 3 feet. So from the top of my monitor at my desk to the USB port, it was stretched almost to the max. Just make sure you have enough space for a proper connection. 6) Finally (for gamers) when streaming via OBS or Discord, the webcam below may appear with a green bar. I've heard it just needs a few driver updates, but upon disconnecting and reconnecting, the fix seemed to work on its own. Overall, this is a pretty solid webcam for school use, zooming in on, chatting with friends, and even streaming. Picture quality is really solid with the right light settings, but the sound is slightly better than a laptop, but nothing critical. The USB cable can be very short depending on your location, so keep this in mind when building or consider a USB extension cable. Overall, I would recommend this product to students who want to upgrade their webcam for a fraction of the cost of an expensive webcam.
