I used the carafe portion of an old coffee pot which, after being dropped, didn't keep the coffee hot for a while. This Copco, while highly acclaimed, was not a name I was familiar with and needless to say I was suspicious of the product. Upon arrival I rinsed it out and filled it with hot water to wait for the next morning. The next morning, while waiting for the coffee to brew, I warmed this carafe with just hot tap water. After about 10 minutes I drained the water and refilled with freshly brewed coffee. The last cup that day came out of the pot 3 hours after brewing and was still hot. Today I woke up at 03:00 and followed the steps above. The last cup came out of the kettle at 3:45pm and although not hot it was warm enough to be called a good cup of coffee. The pot kept the coffee warm for 12.45 hours. It just wasn't fresh enough to smell fresh and have fresh coffee bubbles when you pour it. I can recommend this decanter to friend and foe alike. ;-) It's been over a year now and the coffee maker still keeps my coffee hot. I'm also amazed at how durable it turned out to be, I managed to accidentally bang it against my metal sink and not break the glass liner. I am very happy with this product and think it is worth every penny I paid for it.
