After reading the reviews of others (many of which were negative) I decided to buy this carafe anyway. Why? First, I like glass vacuum decanters. They keep liquid hot longer than metal, even if the metal is double walled and vacuum sealed. Also the disadvantage of glass is that it will break if you drop it, the solution is not to drop it. I used the carafe portion of an old coffee pot which, after being dropped, didn't keep the coffee hot for a while. This Copco, while highly acclaimed, was not a name I was familiar with and needless to say I was suspicious of the product. Upon arrival I rinsed it out and filled it with hot water to wait for the next morning. The next morning, while waiting for the coffee to brew, I warmed this carafe with just hot tap water. Purchased to replace a similar one. It gets the job done, but I'm not very happy with the filling mechanism above. The cap should be next to impossible to turn, but this takes me a few tries to get it seated properly. But my biggest problem is the mechanism that allows you to cast. I don't like that you have to be depressed to pour it. My predecessor was a switch. I don't think I closed it for at least ten years. This thermograph is just what I wanted to have hot water for tea and instant coffee all day long.
