This thermograph is just what I wanted to have hot water for tea and instant coffee all day long. I used to have my favorite Zojirushi Zojirushi CD-WBC40 Micom 4L Kettle and Warmer, Champagne Gold Electric Pot to do it for me, but it eventually died of utter exhaustion and was replaced with a kettle, something like this Hamilton Beach K6080 Large Cordless Kettle 1.8 Liter Black. The kettle works well, but I got tired of heating the water all day every time I wanted "an extra cup". Copco decanter to the rescue Its subtleties: 1. Glass insert2. Easy trigger for pouring with one hand3. Stays HOT for hours (I'll run out of water before the heat runs out)4. Amazingly elegant design for an affordable carafe5. The color is very light Eggshell White, NOT Arctic White (more elegant, IMHO)6. One liter capacity7. AWESOME price (thanks Revain!) If you want the decanter to perform at its best, make sure to "preheat" the glass insert by FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS. I have a 1.5 liter kettle. I heat the water to the maximum temperature (212) and then pour half a liter of this hot water into the carafe. I unscrew the lid and wait five minutes. I then drain the water and fill my carafe with the remaining 1 liter of 212 degree water, screw on the lid and enjoy my very hot water for the next 4-6 hours (I drink a lot of tea and coffee). It works great and I'm sure it will keep the water very hot for at least 8-10 hours, maybe longer. I'll never know as I probably drink MUCH more (coffee and tea) than you :) and refill it 3 times a day. The AVERAGE family of 1 or 2 people will be fine with a 1 liter carafe per day. Highly recommended for its style and utility; Winner. My only caveat is that those with arm strength issues may find it difficult to tighten the "cap". It's a smooth dome with no hooks. Personally, I had no trouble removing or tightening the decanter lid. UPDATE FOR INFORMATION: 11/30/13. I've been using it for another week and have found that, at least for my use, there is no need to preheat the carafe. Carafe. I drink about a full carafe of hot water every 3 hours and the glass liner keeps everything hot without preheating. , which makes it a lot prettier but can be a problem for people with a weak grip. The EASIEST way to attach and detach them is to simply grasp the lid with one hand/palm and then twist the carafe itself to tighten or loosen. Works this way very easily - just thought I'd pass it on!
