So it took me a few miles to adjust their fit and it was my fault for underestimating the strength of this strap. It gets hot at 40-45km then on the advice of a friend I loosened them up and moved the lugs back a few mm (presto! let's see what later winter is) and the boa is great - I can adjust it fit on the go. The markings on the outsole are quite dark when you put the SPD-SL cleats on, so they needed a touch up. to get them just right. Now that I have one, I marked them with a marker. Overall I really like them and have ridden about 200 miles now so time will tell how they hold up.
