I have a shame about binoculars. My wife and I have been ornithologists since the mid 1970's, I was a movie lover and made a living as a surveyor. Any optics, anytime, in the harshest environments and for the toughest applications. That's what the class does. I wear glasses, the eye relief is perfect for me, the eyecups fit my wife's contact lenses well. The field of view is very wide for this 10x magnification, the ED glass gives a very bright and really brilliant color. The ergonomics are good for my large and small woman's hands. For what they offer, ie maximum exit pupil (light gathering ability), it doesn't get much lighter than that. Every tool is a compromise. However, I use them for bird watching from shore where most sightings are a few hundred feet or more away. Close encounters push these boxes to their limits as the lack of depth and field width makes tracking and focusing a real challenge. These 10x magnifications are better than most types, but still don't come close to the comfort and good vision that you get with good glasses with a wider field of view of 7x or 8x magnification. I would name these special goggles and avoid them as my main set if I could only have one. Some people will disagree with me on that. The rebate came quickly, within three weeks, others I've been waiting for months. Also carry in your car Pentax Papillo 6.5x for plants and insects and Celestron 7x 36 for woodland songbirds etc. Less than two bucks, theft.
