Disappointed - binoculars and scopes

I was disappointed. I had two problems. The image of the subject required 1) very precise focusing and 2) wasn't as sharp as expected. These ED 1042s don't have much depth of field compared to my other binoculars - Nikon, Tasco, Busnell, Celestron and Zhumel. The final image sharpness was not as sharp as my Monarch 5 binoculars. I understand that they (ED 1042) are more economical than the Monarch 5 and we are not comparing them as equals. For all other issues ED 1042 was fine. I returned the…

very difficult. for camera and photo

I'm not an expert on binoculars so I bought these based on the reviews and price. Pros: The optics don't seem bad, but I wanted to take a waterproof one on the kayak. Cons: For general use when you want to hold the binoculars for a few or many minutes, however, it becomes very heavy and too heavy for prolonged use, so I am very disappointed in this aspect. They also gained weight while hiking. For some it may not matter, but for me it does. It could be because they are waterproof, or because of

Very clear picture; pretty happy

love these binoculars. I went with 10 x 42 instead of 8 x 42. After a bit of research, reviews, etc., I settled on the Vanguard Endeavor based on the value of the features. With an affordable discount, they were priced below the top-rated competitors. There is a bit more jitter at this zoom, but images are crystal clear; I plan to buy a tripod. The binoculars are easy to adjust and work well even in the rain; no sweating. I needed a replacement (very quick, no questions asked) as the eyepiece…

the best glasses i have ever used

the best glasses i have ever used looked at leica, swaro, nikon etc the differences are very small and the money it takes to buy the best glass is ridiculous. However, I would say that if you really want something better than the HD ED glass they have, go for the Vanguard ED II as they are apochromatically corrected and give a better overall image. The mechanics are great the way it is. Build Quality A little heavy, I wouldn't recommend them for a weaker person, I'm 68 and they fit me. I use…

It's worth the price!

I bought these for $169 during the Black Friday sale last year. Since I've always wanted good binoculars, I couldn't resist such a great price. While I've never heard of Vanguard, my decision was based on reviews here and elsewhere. I have to say that I don't regret the purchase one bit. The quality is evident without even looking at it. You can tell that Vanguard put a lot of thought into the design and choice of materials. When I left them out in the rain overnight, the eyecups filled with…

Nikon's image quality is significantly better.

Last year I picked up a pair of these and 8x40 Nikon Monarch 7s. now it's my car binoculars, and if we're both looking, my partner's binoculars. She prefers them to Nikon binoculars because of their slightly higher magnification; I prefer the Nikon feel in hand, the extremely wide field and great depth of field. For me, the Nikon's image quality is noticeably better. For them, the ability to make field markings more visible is better than the overall "beautiful" picture factor. I think she also

Terrible quality control

Bought a pair of 8x42s everything is great! The image is sharp and the focus wheel works smoothly, apart from some faint grinding/popping noises when turned fully counter-clockwise, which doesn't really bother me. I later decided to buy an extra pair at a higher 10x42 magnification. The binoculars came out of a plastic bag (unlike the first) with stains on the optics. When trying it out, I heard and felt a loud grinding noise when turning the focus wheel. I immediately sent them back and…

Excellent special binoculars. Updated 3 years later. Still great!

I have a shame about binoculars. My wife and I have been ornithologists since the mid 1970's, I was a movie lover and made a living as a surveyor. Any optics, anytime, in the harshest environments and for the toughest applications. That's what the class does. I wear glasses, the eye relief is perfect for me, the eyecups fit my wife's contact lenses well. The field of view is very wide for this 10x magnification, the ED glass gives a very bright and really brilliant color. The ergonomics are…
