Review on Walker 18815 SoundFX Muffler by Rafael Calderon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works with small fittings, doesn't look like the picture

Silencer does not correspond to the picture. This is the correct option for a V8 Ford Explorer 96 - early '98 with two pipes connected to a steel flange on the muffler and exit to the tailpipe. The muffler has a 3-bolt steel flange with two inlet pipes and a 2-1/4" outlet. The front flange is attached correctly. The twin pipes on the muffler are 1/2" smaller than the factory pipes but with the new one Seal no leakage problems. The only exit from the muffler is 2-1/4 inches. Factory capacity is 2 inches, so you will need a 2-1/4 ID 2 OD coupler to connect to your existing exhaust pipe. To complete the repair you will need to add the correct flange gasket, muffler grommet pipe, exhaust coupler and 2 exhaust pipe clamps - one 2" and one 2-1/4". I picked up all of these parts at a local auto parts store for about $20.
