I'm doing repairs and found that my water is very hard. I checked our water company and they state on their website that it is hard water. I started looking around for systems but we have a small house so working with salt water seems expensive and cumbersome. I've seen several of these products and decided on this one because the display at least tells me it's working. An extensive review on the Internet shows that some believe that this is a broken technology that does nothing. I knew enough chemistry and physics in college to know that passing a current through a coil creates an electromagnetic field and I searched the internet for literature and found that there are indeed studies looking at this method, to soften water without extracting or altering calcium deposits chemically. That fact was enough for me to think it was worth trying. After the first day I felt my hair was softer. I tried again to be sure and yes it did soften after drying. Later in the day it feels different, it's hard to describe how it feels but I think it might be because I have less conditioner on my hair and I feel more real oil in my hair than before. I used to use a lot more conditioner and most of it stayed in my hair. Now it seems clearer than before. My clear dishwasher glass is also much cleaner than before. I've had to use a lot of rinse aid and still do, but it seems there's a better chance of getting clear glasses without relying on rinse aid as heavily. I was only able to install it on the inlet line of our water heater as the house water doesn't have an outlet nearby nor does it have enough stretch to wrap the coils. I ended up getting some magnets to put on to help the cold water out a bit. Our ice dispenser bowl browns a lot from the water dripping down, so I would also like to improve the cold water. Since installation I have not had to use any harsh chemicals to clean the tray and remove stains. Since we also have a new glass shower door it stays nice and clean while the previous door had a lot of limescale build up. I know my husband doesn't believe it actually works, but you can't dispute the results. This is also good because it is good for our spa when it has calcium in the water so it won't affect that, saving us from having to adjust the spa water hardness.
