I firmly believe in the saying "You can buy a filter or be a filter”. In 2015 I bought a HydroPerfection reverse osmosis system with UV light and pump. UV light probably isn't needed, but I decided to turn it on since it doesn't cost much more and I'm working on a downhole system. I installed the unit in the basement which made the installation a bit easier for me as I didn't have to go under the sink. It is installed after the water softener and I routed the plumbing to the kitchen sink and fridge. Simple instructions/videos made installation a lot easier. I change the filters once a year as recommended by the manufacturer. If you make one cartridge at a time, it will take about 10 minutes to swap out. They cost about $125 for an annual replacement and another $100 for the membrane (every 3-5 years). As for the water quality, it is excellent. I have had several family members and friends comment on how much they love the water. I have had the device for 3 years now and have never had any problems with it. I also bought the system for my son and daughter-in-law to take home. I wanted them and my grandchildren to have good drinking water since they are connected to the municipal water supply. The device actually pays for itself as I no longer buy bottled water and it's better for the environment as I get rid of all those plastic bottles. The pump also saves water used to regenerate the system. Technical support is also top notch. I called them twice to make sure I ordered the correct filter replacement. They were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this reverse osmosis system.
