The 20 x 20 size was perfect for our ceiling register which actually measures 19.5 x 19.5 inches where the filter is mounted. repeated cleaning, it is significantly heavier than a conventional disposable filter. Since the register housing is lower than the filter frame, the filter can move when the fan is switched on and off. I attached the filter by cutting it to size and applying a 1/2" x 3/8" self-adhesive vinyl gasket to the surface of the case where the filter sits when the fan is on. I then applied the same sealant to the louvered side of the door to hold the filter in place when the fan shuts off. This ensures a good filter seal and prevents any movement. A simple DIY project.
