On my a7r2 I compared it with the already existing tamron 28-75 2.8. Zeiss on an open (sometimes even up to 4) aperture has terrible chromaticity from purple to nasty green. Most of all, I was surprised that the tamron did not limp so much even at 2.8. The colors of the tamron are brighter (although not always correct) and in general the picture is more contrasting, which, when viewing photos without crop, gives the impression of greater sharpness (compared at the same focal length of 55mm). The sharpness at the edges of the frame on the open Zeiss is not ideal. So you should not expect any miracles from the Zeiss, except for ease of use due to its small size.
