I had several IP cameras that would disconnect every 24-48 hours. I was ready to route for each new cable, but with the help of this tester, I was able to identify bad connections and cable stains on each of them. After cutting about 3 inches of wire at a time and crimping new connectors, everything is now tight. (Both cables had issues with the original molded connectors with no visible signs of external damage.) I recommend testing the cable both ways to get a clearer idea of where the fault lies. It may not be ideal. For the price it saved me hours of work pulling new cables.
