Saved me hours of work.

I had several IP cameras that would disconnect every 24-48 hours. I was ready to route for each new cable, but with the help of this tester, I was able to identify bad connections and cable stains on each of them. After cutting about 3 inches of wire at a time and crimping new connectors, everything is now tight. (Both cables had issues with the original molded connectors with no visible signs of external damage.) I recommend testing the cable both ways to get a clearer idea of where the fault…

Gives out wrong cord length

Waste of money. I really wanted to use it to get the cable length. If you enable this, the metric will be used by default. That would be nice, but I'm an American stuck in the imperial system. If that was the only problem, that would be perfectly fine. It is not. Distances are long. Recalibration is possible, but does not eliminate the problem of deviating readings. Works for wiremap. Useless for the length.

I bought this to measure the length. It is good for a basic continuity check or schematic. Fails the length test. It usually overestimates length by 2-3 times actual length and varies widely between measurements. When calibrating for a medium length cable, the readings can be close to a cable of the same length, but are not appropriate for long cables. Example: calibrated for a known 50 foot cable, it can correctly measure 60 foot cable but not 100 foot cable. I tested it on several physically…
