Review on DEWALT D26960 Heat Gun with LCD Display by Elder Unogu

Great tool died out prematurely

The design of this hair dryer is really great. The digital readout gives you precise control over heat output, from drying damp newspaper to melting solder. I like the built in feet that allow you to safely place the gun while it's still running or hot. The gun reaches temperature in 30-45 seconds and can change temperature in about 15 seconds. It is useful to understand that the temperature setting for low and high fan speeds is saved separately. I used to think I could let the tool warm up at low speed and then increase the fan speed when the tool is hot, but that doesn't work so well because the temperature changes when the fan speed is switched. It's okay, but it's good to know. The low temp max is 750°F and the high temp max is 1100°F. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because the tool stopped working after 4 years of light use. The LCD screen is blank and the gun does not get hot even though the fan is running. It was a great tool when it worked but as the warranty is 3 years I now have to buy another one. The factory service center in Westwood, Massachusetts says it's "too complicated" to fix. However, I might take a chance and buy another one because I liked it so much while it worked.
