First of all, to be clear, this cartridge is NOT discontinued. According to a recent chat with someone at Ortofon, they have stopped selling the Super OM20 and Super OM30. However, for the foreseeable future they will continue to produce Super OM10, 20 and 30 styli which will still be readily available with no stocking required. Well, as for the cartridge itself, it's great. Like many people, I've upgraded from the OM5E and noticed a massive improvement across the board, from air, warmth, clarity, separation, every audiophile buzzword you can think of. The OM series offers continuous improvements in every stylus option. I am currently using the Stylus 20 and would like to reiterate a massive improvement over the 10. One thing that isn't talked about much is the improvement of the Super cartridge over the standard OM cartridge. I switched from OM5E to Stylus 20 first but in normal case. I then put the Stylus 20 on the Super OM body and immediately noticed an increase in treble presence and clarity, as well as better separation across the spectrum. If I had to pick one word to describe the upgrade from Standard to Super, I'd say it's livelier. The natural reproduction of the OM series is well known and the super cartridge case underlines this. Get this for the Super OM cartridge body and know you can upgrade your needle to fit any system a sane person could desire.
