Expensive power strip

This device has a metal housing and stable sockets. Minus - the protection of the Internet and cable did not work. After routing the cables according to the instructions: 1. Connect the cable box to the input. 2. Connect the coaxial cable to the output via LAN connections. I have to use Xfinity, there is no choice, there is a big minus with them. However since my internet is Xfinity with Arris 8200 I had no internet. My Asus WiFi worked fine, but without internet it's useless. I tried several configurations but nothing, no internet. (I don't have Xfinity TV service) nothing. I switched all cable box connections to WLAN. Guess there is no internet. Long story short, I had to factory reset Arris and Asus 3 times, removing all wireless connections AANNNDDD, no internet. The solution is to turn off all devices, then turn off all devices and avoid cables and LAN security I/Os. Eleven hours later, my network returned. Here's what I did: reset my computer's network settings, delete/forget networks, all networks including the ones you don't use. Reset cable modem 3 times, wireless modem 3 times, disable all devices, turn all devices on and off, disable same. Reset all wireless home devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) x3. Started at 11:00 am, network backup at 10:30 am. All because I thought I could protect my devices. Waste of time that could have been spent elsewhere. After all, I did NOT use any cable/LAN protection. Is this a general problem? I don't want to try another one from just any vendor. I was very concerned that it would fry my modem or wireless access. It didn't toast him, but it blew my mind for hours. I'm a LAN geek and have never had a device that did this, even in the 'old' days when computers had built-in coaxial internet ports. I've set up hundreds of LANs, rack servers, etc. The only time this happened was when the switch burned down at 02:00, but it turned out to be fully functional. It's the exact symptom that the internals have been fried, but it's enough to slow down or disable the service. Everything worked fine for months until I connected to this isobar. I question my wisdom as I have redirected. There will be no second time. My internet works without using input/output ports. Don't use wired/LAN security ports unless you're brave and don't like internet connection hassles.
