My original Dyson head was worn out. The beater shaft was missing parts, the felt strips kept coming loose and the end cap was torn. Since there was so much to fix I figured it would be cheaper to replace the whole thing but the original was very expensive. I found this and thought I'd give it a try. When I took it out of the box I was disappointed that it wasn't as wide as the original and thought it would take more effort on my part to vacuum the floors. I put it on - it fit perfectly and went to work. The first thing I noticed was that he picked up kitty litter with no problem. I usually had to lift the vacuum and place it right over the filler before the original picked it up. All the little bits on the floor were just sucked in. I found it took me less time to finish vacuuming since he first picked them up. I think maybe because it's narrower, has more suction, and the head is designed to let parts go underneath instead of just pushing. All in all I like it better than the original. Update: I took the head off today to get rid of any hair stuck in the brush. I have very long hair and it wraps around the comb like in the original. Hair from brushes is more difficult to remove than from the original. In the part where the roller slides, it was almost impossible to remove the hair wrapped around it. The video itself is easier to remove than the original. ** UPDATE: After a few months the roller stopped rolling even though I removed hair from the roller on a weekly basis. The hair appears to be trapped under a jagged section that allows the roller to spin. I can't get my hair out despite spending several hours with tweezers. I contacted the company and they said don't use it where there is hair! How ridiculous is that?
