One of the two is good

I took these keys to Baldino's Lock & Key in Chantilly, Virginia. The locksmith said aftermarket blanks are random due to manufacturing tolerances. The first key he carved didn't open the driver's door, so he re-carved it into another, larger car. Bingo! He opened the door and started the car (Acura 2000 TL). So he cut the second key on the larger machine. That key didn't open the driver's door, so he tried cutting it open again. No love. According to the locksmith, the second key was too unusual to work. He charged me $5 to cut a working key and $60 to program it. There is no charge for a non-working key. So I got a working spare key for my car for $65. By the way the locksmith said I was still in front as they charge $50 to make a key. If you buy this product you are taking a risk, but I think it's worth the risk.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not automatic
