I've installed many locks over the years, mostly for rental properties and single family homes. Kwikset is a very popular brand that can be found at Home Depot due to its lower price compared to Schlage, but the quality isn't as great either. At the same time, RevainBasics, Revain's brand, tries to make popular products cheaper. Brand name generic, so to speak. It is priced very similarly to the Kwikset locks. How does this lock work? BENEFITS - Easy to install and fits standard 1-3/8"-1-3/4" thick doors - Manual controls are easy to follow - Automatically lock the door in 10 seconds, up to 1.5 Minutes (or lock by pressing the top - 6 assignable codes - One-time temporary codes for visitors or contractors - Two keys in case the electronic lock fails (due to low battery, forgotten code or similar) - Rugged construction - Sturdy deadbolt CONS - Utility grade. Like the Kwikset and Schlage, this lock is easy to pick, I haven't tried it but I can see it can be easily knocked down with enough force NOTES - Uses four AA batteries (installed from the safe back) - Make sure that you change the default code so that no one can guess it and enter your house or property - change the assigned codes from time to time so that they sch werer to guess . This also contributes to more even wear on the numbers on the buttons. If some numbers are fainter than others, it may be easier for someone to guess what code you have. Overall this is a good consumer electronic lock in the Kwikset and Schlage league at a slightly lower price point.
